The Girl Scout Tree Grove was established in 1987 by the Girl Scouts of Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo, in celebration of the Girl Scouts’ 75th Anniversary. The Jacaranda tree lined pathway leading through the one and a half acre Girl Scout Tree Grove features many projects accomplished by Scouts over the years.

Girl Scouts and some Boy Scouts have earned badges for their work in the Grove, including the Girl Scout Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards and the Boy Scout Eagle Award. These projects include a display of flags set in concrete on a hillside that represents members of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world. The Flower Wishing Well, benches and flower gardens were also created by Girl Scouts as they earned their Girl Scout Awards. A set of stairways leads to the troop size amphitheater where special ceremonies take place, Girl Scout Troops gather to perform and many other visitors sit to enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

Plants found in the Girl Scout Tree Grove attract a variety of butterflies and birds to the area. The work of the Girl Scouts was responsible for the Grove being recognized as a National Certified Monarch Way Station.  Monarch Butterflies migrate each year, with their descendants returning to their overwinter resting grounds. Monarch Way Stations are places that provide resources necessary for Monarchs to sustain that migration.
